I am a Dutch conceptual artist, currently residing in Prague. Having had an interest in the arts from a young age, I developed my practice both in formal and informal environments. I grew up in a liberal and progressive environment, stimulating a curious and critical mind. This translated greatly into my artistic practice, always seeking to explore and develop new concepts. My works often play with various socio-political or self-centred concepts, regularly backed by strong conceptual reasonings. Additionally, I have a large interest in formal language as a creative format for communicating artistic perspectives. My practice has a heavy focus on research, process and contextualisation. I work in both traditional analogue fine art as well as digital mediums and often combine this with writing and publication practices.
Besides my personal expression, I aim to use and share my interest in art in different formats. I am an educator as much as I am an artist. I aim to collaborate with people, especially those that have no background whatsoever in fine art. Gathering diverse perspectives and input and engaging people into my practice are strong drivers of this. Confronting all unfamiliar and unknown ideas, by stepping into somebody else's perspective. My starting point is never “i” but rather “you”. Asking questions and considering non-confirmative narratives are at the core of this. I want to explore human connections and the relation they share with our practice and ideas, see how our sense-making is influenced and how we can put art to use in bridging understandings.
